Q. Caecilius Metellus Pius. AR Denarius, 81 BC. Obv. Diademed head of Pietas right; before, stork. Rev. Elephant walking left; in exergue, Q.C.M.P.I. Cr. 374/1; B. 43. 3.86 g. 17.00 mm. An outstanding example, perfectly centred and in excellent condition for issue. Rare as such. Superb grey iridescent tone, with red and blue highlights. Good VF.
