C. Censorinus. AR Denarius, 88 BC. Obv. Jugate heads of Numa Pompilius and Ancus Marcius right. Rev. Desultor right, wearing conical cap and holding whip; below, heron. Cr. 346/1d; B. 18. AR. 3.60 g. 18.50 mm. Old cabinet tone. VF. A desultor is a skilled horseman who can leap from one horse to the other while riding. Originally it was a battle skill but later it became a popular entertainment in the Roman circus.
