Lot 977:
Egyptian Kingdom, Late Period, second half on 1st millennium BC.
Large amulet in blue faience, depicting Thoth in the form of a baboon with a large pectoral.
Dimensions: 64 x 33 mm.
Baboon amulets probably were offerings to shrines honoring Thoth, but could also have been placed with the deceased as a representative of the deity who recorded Osiris' judgment.
